HISTORY
The story of Seafarer began back in 1896 when Tony Anzalone, an Italian immigrant and former U.S. Navy sailor known as Seagoing Tony, opened a small tailor shop near the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He started collaborating with the U.S. Navy, eventually designing the original model that would be adopted as the official uniform for over 100 years. This denim design became known as bell-bottom pants: originally created for military purposes, over more than a century, they transformed into a symbol of peace, playing a key role in the protests of 1968. By the 1970s, they had become a cult fashion item, embraced by style icons of the time, including Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, and Farrah Fawcett.
"Seafarer is a journey, an adventure. Inspiration is constant: a song, a landscape, a meeting, a glance, a love story, a poem, or even a diary—each a piece of an authentic narrative path."
Since 2021, The Seafarer has been under the creative direction of Manuela Mariotti, who designs a ready-to-wear collection that extends beyond jeans and blazers. The brand stands out for its innovation and research while staying true to its origins and signature colors, embracing a bold Seventies mood that has already captivated top models and celebrities. Among the brand’s fans are Heidi Klum, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jessica Alba, January Jones, and Olga Kurylenko.
The Seafarer woman is independent, strong yet dreamy and rebellious. She loves to travel and explore, always exuding sophistication and femininity while carrying a rock ‘n’ roll soul that seamlessly blends with a romantic, French-inspired aesthetic.
